Three common diagnostic methods for congenital absence of vagina

Congenital absence of vagina is one of the causes of infertility in women. It is not common in clinical practice and often manifests as primary amenorrhea, uterine enlargement and ovarian hypoplasia. Once diagnosed by a specialist, the patient needs to be prepared for surgical treatment. So how to diagnose this disease? According to infertility experts, the correct diagnosis of congenital absence of vagina is divided into three steps and there are three diagnostic methods.

Congenital absence of vagina is a relatively rare female disease, but its harm is very great. Experts recommend that female patients go to the hospital for an accurate diagnosis as soon as possible. So how to diagnose congenital absence of vagina? Most patients with congenital absence of vagina have only completely closed vaginal vestibule mucosa at the normal vaginal opening, and no vaginal traces. Some patients are accompanied by no deformity, and only slightly thickened strip-like tissue can be seen in the normal uterus, located in the middle of the broad ligament.

There are three diagnostic methods for congenital absence of vagina:

1. Generally, it is found when a young girl does not have menstruation at the age of 17 and goes to the hospital for examination. The examination can find the presence or absence of hymen, shallow depression at the opening of hymen or short lower vagina.

2. If the uterus develops abnormally, primary amenorrhea will occur after puberty, and the uterus will be small or deformed. If the uterus develops normally, primary amenorrhea will occur with periodic abdominal pain, intrauterine blood, and enlarged uterus.

3. Those with ovarian hypoplasia have incomplete development of secondary sexual characteristics, such as short stature, webbed neck, cubitus valgus and other deformities.

Correct diagnosis of congenital absence of vagina is divided into three steps. As mentioned above, experts said that due to the different environments of each hospital and the different technical levels of doctors, the methods of treating congenital absence of vagina will also be different. Therefore, if patients want to undergo surgery, it is recommended to go to a regular professional hospital for treatment. Congenital absence of vagina is not terrible, but what is terrible is that some patients are unwilling to accept treatment, which leads to worsening of the condition.
