Cervical erosion is a common gynecological phenomenon, mainly caused by the outward migration of the cervical columnar epithelium. It is not a true "erosion". Its common causes include changes in hormone levels, inflammatory stimulation, frequent sexual life, etc. Cervical erosion itself is not necessarily harmful to health, but it may be accompanied by other gynecological diseases, such as cervicitis or cervical precancerous lesions, which need to be taken seriously. 1. Changes in hormone levels. When women are in puberty, pregnancy or taking birth control pills, their estrogen levels increase, which may cause the cervical columnar epithelium to move outward, forming cervical erosion. This situation is usually physiological, so there is no need to worry too much, just check it regularly. 2. Inflammatory stimulation. Chronic cervicitis, vaginitis and other inflammations can cause long-term stimulation of the cervix, which may damage the cervical epithelial cells and cause erosion-like changes. The key to preventing inflammation is to maintain personal hygiene, avoid unclean sexual life, and have regular gynecological examinations. 3. Frequent sexual intercourse. Frequent sexual intercourse may cause mechanical friction to the cervix and increase the risk of cervical erosion. It is recommended to moderately control the frequency of sexual intercourse and pay attention to the hygiene and safety of sexual intercourse. The main harm of cervical erosion is that it may mask other serious diseases. For example, cervical erosion may have similar symptoms to cervical precancerous lesions or early cervical cancer, so professional examinations are needed to exclude malignant lesions. For cervical erosion without obvious symptoms, special treatment is usually not required, but regular cervical cytology examinations such as TCT and human papillomavirus HPV testing are required to exclude the risk of cancer. If cervical erosion is accompanied by obvious symptoms, such as increased leucorrhea, odor, contact bleeding, etc., the following treatment methods can be used: 1. Drug treatment. Use antibacterial or anti-inflammatory drugs to control infection, such as metronidazole, clindamycin, etc. 2. Physical therapy. Remove eroded tissue through laser, freezing or electrocautery to promote the regeneration of healthy epithelium. 3. Surgical treatment. For severe cases, cervical conization or LEEP knife surgery can be considered to completely remove the diseased tissue. The key to preventing cervical erosion is to maintain good living habits, such as paying attention to personal hygiene, avoiding unclean sex, and regular gynecological examinations. For women who have already developed cervical erosion, there is no need to be overly anxious, but they need to follow the doctor's advice for standardized treatment and follow-up to ensure the health of the cervix. |
