What are the dangers of ovarian cysts? Is the treatment expensive?

Clinically, ovarian cysts often present with lower abdominal pain, lower abdominal discomfort, increased leucorrhea, yellow leucorrhea, leucorrhea odor, and menstrual irregularities. Ovarian cysts can also cause the following hazards:

1. Causes edema and affects life: In addition to loss of appetite, weight loss and abdominal distension, it may also cause vomiting, fever and severe abdominal pain; in the later stage, it may even cause edema in the abdomen and limbs.

2. Lower abdominal pain: Affected by peristalsis and changes in body position, the cyst moves in the pelvic cavity, pulling on its pedicle and pelvic infundibulum ligament, causing the patient to have a feeling of distension, heaviness and pain in the lower abdomen, which can easily be mistaken for some common gynecological inflammation or gastroenteritis.

3. Lead to premature aging of women’s appearance: sexual endocrine disorders, premature aging, malignant changes, and even diseases such as ovarian cancer.

4. Infertility: Early ovarian cysts can cause lower abdominal pain, increased leucorrhea, yellow leucorrhea, and menstrual irregularities. When cysts affect hormone production, irregular vaginal bleeding or increased hair growth may occur. In the middle and late stages, patients may experience abdominal pain, bloating, frequent urination, and other symptoms. If not treated in time, it will eventually lead to infertility.

5. Cause miscarriage and dystocia: It can cause miscarriage. Ovarian cyst pedicle torsion is prone to occur during pregnancy interruption. Severe torsion in late pregnancy can lead to abnormal fetal position, which may block the birth canal and cause dystocia during delivery.

Ovarian cysts are usually treated by laparotomy or laparoscopy. Since laparotomy is very traumatic and healing is slow, laparoscopy is used to treat ovarian cysts. Laparoscopy is less traumatic, healing is fast, and it does not leave a large scar like laparotomy. The cost varies according to the severity of the symptoms. In fact, the cost of treatment mainly depends on the patient's own situation and cannot be generalized.
