Can eating chocolate make you slimmer? Adequate amount helps enhance metabolism

A Spanish study found that eating more chocolate can make people slimmer. People who admit that they eat a lot of chocolate have, on average, much lower body fat levels. According to analysis, chocolate seems to enhance metabolism and thus prevent fat accumulation. In addition, it is also beneficial to the circulatory system, blood pressure and heart health.

Chocolate makes you slim

Studies have found that people who regularly eat a lot of chocolate have lower fat levels in all parts of their bodies than other people under the same conditions. This seems to be very different from what people usually imagine. This is because chocolate can make the human body's metabolism more efficient, thus offsetting the fat that might have been accumulated in various organs in the body. According to the British Daily Mail, a study found that eating a lot of chocolate is actually one of the best ways to lose weight, which seems to be very different from what people usually imagine.

Chocolate promotes metabolism and eating more can help offset fat

Scientists at the University of Granada in Spain studied 1,500 teenagers aged 12 to 17 in nine European countries, including Spain and the UK, focusing on their diet and health activities. They found that people who admitted to eating large amounts of chocolate on a regular basis had lower levels of fat in all parts of their body than other people who were in the same situation. And more importantly, regardless of whether they exercise regularly or are on a diet, their stomach areas are slimmer and flatter. Studies have also found that chocolate has a positive impact on circulation, blood pressure and heart health.

The research results of the University of Granada confirm another earlier study by the University of California, where researchers also found that eating chocolate regularly can reduce body fat content.

According to analysis, this is because, although chocolate may contain more calories than many foods, it can make the human body metabolize more efficiently, thus offsetting the fat that would otherwise accumulate in various organs in the body.

However, the key is moderation. A recent poll found that 86% of people who have successfully lost weight continue to enjoy their favorite foods. "There's a lot of research that shows that diets that are centered around not eating are likely to fail," said Janet Aylott, a nutritionist who conducted the survey. "The key is to eat a little bit of the food you enjoy in a more relaxed way."

Excessive fasting can lead to compensatory eating

Previous studies have shown that dieting that completely eliminates foods such as chocolate, red wine and biscuits will actually lead to weight gain because dieters will "compensate" by eating more other foods. A data shows that among those who try to lose weight by not eating foods such as chocolate, 65% of them actually gain weight. A recent study by the University of Cambridge in the UK found that people who eat chocolate every day are 29% less likely to have a stroke and 37% less risk of heart disease than those who do not eat chocolate.

The reason is that a key element of chocolate is flavonoids from cocoa beans, which provide health benefits. Tea and red wine also contain flavonoids, a class of antioxidants that help eliminate excess free radicals that can damage cells. Generally speaking, the higher the cocoa content in chocolate, the more flavonoids it contains and the greater the health benefits it has. For example, dark chocolate contains 45% cocoa bean entities, and the flavonoids in it are 5 times that of white chocolate and twice that of milk chocolate.
