Does smoking cause ovarian cysts?

Smoking is harmful to health, but due to the increasing social pressure, women smoke and drink to relieve stress. However, experts tell you that smoking can cause ovarian cysts and gynecological tumors, and long-term smoking can also lead to female infertility.

Smoking doubles the risk of women developing functional ovarian cysts. Women who smoke for a long time are more likely to suffer from gynecological tumors such as breast cancer and cervical cancer. This is mainly due to the tar in cigarettes affecting ovarian function. In addition, long-term and heavy smoking in women may also lead to irregular menstruation, infertility, ectopic pregnancy, miscarriage, premature birth and congenital malformations.

The causes of ovarian cysts are:

1. Genes. According to statistics, 20-25% of ovarian tumor patients have a family history.

2. Endocrine factors. Although the ovaries are small, they are important organs that produce eggs and ovulate, secrete endocrine hormones, and balance endocrine secretions. Ovarian tumors often occur during the reproductive age when endocrine secretions are active. Clinically, the basic pathological and physiological changes of many patients with ovarian cysts and polycystic ovary syndrome are that the ovaries produce too much androgen, and the excessive production of androgen is the result of the synergistic effects of multiple endocrine system dysfunctions in the body.

3. Lifestyle factors. Long-term dietary structure, bad living habits, and excessive psychological pressure cause excessive acidification of the body, a decline in the overall function of the human body, and a decline in immune function, which leads to abnormal proliferation of ovarian tissue, eventually leading to ovarian cysts and even cancer.
