What is endometrial tuberculosis?

What kind of disease is endometrial tuberculosis? For female friends, the biggest health killer is gynecological diseases. Endometrial tuberculosis is one of the common gynecological diseases. Its occurrence seriously affects the patient's physical and mental health and quality of life. So, what kind of disease is endometrial tuberculosis?

Endometrial tuberculosis is an inflammation of the endometrium caused by Mycobacterium tuberculosis. It is mostly a part of pelvic tuberculosis and also a part of systemic tuberculosis. The main source of infection is pulmonary or peritoneal tuberculosis. Most of the primary lesions are in the lungs and pleura, and the incubation period can be as long as several years.

Therefore, when endometrial tuberculosis is discovered, the primary lesion may have disappeared, followed by peritoneal tuberculosis; a few cases are transmitted by male urogenital tuberculosis through sexual intercourse. Endometrial tuberculosis accounts for 50% to 60% of genital tuberculosis, often spreading from fallopian tube tuberculosis to the uterus. The lesions are mostly confined to the endometrium, and in severe cases, they can invade the myometrium.

Clinical manifestations: irregular menstruation, menstruation that is more frequent at first and less frequent later, or even amenorrhea. Because tuberculosis of the endometrium destroys the environment for the implantation and development of the fertilized egg, or tuberculosis of the fallopian tubes blocks the fallopian tubes, causing infertility, many patients come to the hospital for infertility examinations and are finally diagnosed with endometrial tuberculosis. It is often caused by combined pelvic tuberculosis, resulting in pelvic congestion, adhesions or abscess formation, causing lower abdominal pain.

In the early stages of endometrial tuberculosis, due to endometrial necrosis and shedding, menstruation may be prolonged and increased. With the varying degrees of damage to the endometrium, menstrual volume gradually decreases, and even amenorrhea may occur. Some patients contract tuberculosis in childhood, and their endometrium is destroyed, resulting in lifelong amenorrhea. Therefore, we must pay enough attention to this disease.
