1. Threatened abortion

(1) Kidney deficiency

[Symptoms] A small amount of vaginal bleeding during pregnancy, which is light red or dark red; or accompanied by low back pain and abdominal pain, or repeated pregnancies and miscarriages, dizziness, tinnitus, frequent and clear urination; pale tongue with white coating, deep and slippery pulse with weak radial pulse.

[Treatment method and prescription] Nourish the kidney and spleen, replenish qi and stabilize the fetus.

(2) Weak Qi and blood

[Symptoms] A small amount of vaginal bleeding during pregnancy, which is light red in color and thin in texture; or accompanied by dull pain in the lower abdomen, soreness in the waist, fatigue, pale complexion, palpitations and shortness of breath; pale tongue, thin white fur, and weak and slightly slippery pulse.

[Treatment method and prescription] Tonify Qi and nourish blood, strengthen the kidney and stabilize the fetus.

(3) Blood heat

[Symptoms] During pregnancy, there is a small amount of vaginal bleeding, which is red or dark red; or it is accompanied by pain and distension in the waist and abdomen, dislike of warm pressure, restlessness and insomnia, thirst and preference for cold drinks, hot hands and feet, constipation and dark urine; red tongue, yellow tongue coating, and slippery and rapid pulse.

[Treatment method and prescription] Nourish yin and clear heat, nourish blood and stabilize the fetus.

(4) Blood stasis

[Symptoms] During pregnancy, there is a small amount of vaginal bleeding, which is red or dark red and sticky; or accompanied by lower abdominal pain that is resistant to pressure; the tongue is dark red, or has petechiae and ecchymosis, and the pulse is stringy and slippery.

[Treatment method and prescription] Remove blood stasis and eliminate symptoms, tonify the kidney and stabilize the fetus.

(5) Trauma

[Symptoms] During pregnancy, falls, sprains, or overwork may cause vaginal bleeding, backache, or lower abdominal pain; normal tongue quality, slippery and weak pulse

[Treatment method and prescription] Tonify Qi and nourish blood, strengthen the kidney and stabilize the fetus.

2. Habitual miscarriage

(1) Kidney deficiency

[Symptoms] Repeated miscarriages more than 3 times, or miscarriages when expected; dizziness, tinnitus, sore waist and knees, frequent urination at night, dark eye sockets; pale tongue with thin white coating, and deep and weak pulse.

[Treatment method and prescription] Nourish the kidney and replenish Qi, consolidate and control Chong and Ren meridians.

(2) Weak Qi and blood

[Symptoms] Repeated pregnancies and miscarriages more than 3 times, dizziness, fatigue; pale complexion, palpitations and shortness of breath; pale tongue, thin white fur, and weak pulse.

[Treatment method and prescription] Tonify Qi and nourish blood, consolidate Chong and stabilize pregnancy.

(3) Yin deficiency and blood heat

[Symptoms] Repeated miscarriages, flushed cheekbones after pregnancy, dry mouth and throat, hot hands and feet, irritability, or weight loss; red tongue with little coating, and weak pulse.

[Treatment method and prescription] Nourish yin and clear heat, cool blood and stabilize the fetus.

3. Abortion with infection

[Symptoms] Irregular vaginal bleeding after pregnancy, with varying amounts of bleeding, dark red and dirty, fishy smell, lower abdominal pain, fever; aversion to cold, general malaise, fatigue; red tongue with yellow and greasy coating, and slippery or stringy pulse.
