Vaginitis is a common gynecological disease. According to the pathogenic factors and patient characteristics, it can be divided into bacterial vaginitis, Trichomonas vaginitis, gonococcal vaginitis, senile vaginitis, young girl vaginitis, teenage vaginitis, pregnancy vaginitis, etc. Trichomonas vaginitis is a relatively common vaginitis, accounting for about 10% to 15% of all vaginitis patients. The vaginal secretions of patients with trichomoniasis have a fishy smell, so it is often called fishy-smelling trichomoniasis. The pathogen of this disease is Trichomonas vaginalis, which can be transmitted through sexual intercourse, and can also be transmitted through incompletely disinfected medical equipment, public baths, bathing utensils, toilets, etc. Patients with fishy-smelling Trichomonas vaginitis mainly present with increased leucorrhea and itchy vulvar skin. A small number of patients experience bladder irritation symptoms such as frequent urination, urgency, and pain due to Trichomonas invading the urethra and bladder. In severe cases, hematuria may occur. Gynecological examinations can reveal that the patient has a lot of yellow-green or gray-yellow foamy secretions in the vagina, and the vaginal mucosa is congested. The definitive diagnosis of fishy-smelling Trichomonas vaginitis can be made through microscopic examination of secretions. Generally, Trichomonas vaginalis with wavy movements can be found. Culture can be performed if necessary to increase the positive detection rate. Trichomonas vaginalis can devour sperm, and vaginal secretions can hinder the survival of sperm and cause infertility, so it should be treated actively. |
