The "Five Stopping" Effects of Plum

The "Five Stopping" Effects of Plum

Wumei is a traditional Chinese medicine with astringent and astringent effects. It is flat in nature and sour in taste. The usual dosage is 3-10 grams without the core. Its functions can be summarized as "five stoppings".

Thirst quencher

The sour taste of black plum can stimulate saliva secretion, promote the production of body fluid and quench thirst. It is often used to treat thirst and polydipsia (such as diabetes) as well as thirst and dry throat caused by fever. In summer, black plum decoction can be used as a drink to relieve summer heat and quench thirst.

Cough

Black plum is sour and astringent, can restrain the lungs and stop coughs, and is used for lung deficiency, long-term cough with little sputum or dry cough without sputum, often with pinellia, apricot kernel, etc. But it should be used with caution for solid evidence.

Antidiarrhea

Wumei can astringe the intestines and stop diarrhea, and can be used for long-term diarrhea caused by spleen deficiency, chronic diarrhea, or continuous loose stools in the large intestine, or even prolapse of the anus. In recent years, some people have used Wumei Pills in "Treatise on Febrile Diseases" as a basic prescription to treat nonspecific colitis, and have achieved significant results.

Pain relief

First, it can calm ascaris and stop abdominal pain. Ascaris will lie dormant when it is exposed to acid. Using black plum with asarum, Sichuan pepper, coptis root, aconite root, etc. can treat abdominal pain, vomiting and even cold limbs caused by ascaris in the bile duct or intestines. Second, it can promote blood circulation and stop blood stasis and pain. Black plum can soften bone spurs, improve blood circulation, reduce edema and treat heel pain. Take 200 grams of black plum, add 2000 ml of water and boil for 40 minutes, filter to remove the residue, add 200 ml of vinegar, and soak the heels when the temperature of the liquid medicine is suitable, once a night, each time for about 1 hour (the liquid medicine can be heated repeatedly).

Stop bleeding

Stir-fried black plum charcoal can treat blood in stool and metrorrhagia due to deficiency syndrome. To treat dysfunctional uterine bleeding, 30 grams of stir-fried black plum can be used with ginseng, tuckahoe, papaya, red ochre, and yuyuliang for decoction; to treat hematuria and proteinuria caused by chronic glomerulonephritis, 6-10 grams of black plum charcoal and cicada slough can be added to the syndrome differentiation prescription, which has significant effects. This is related to the fact that experiments have shown that black plum can help the proliferation of renal tubular epithelial cells and enhance the ability of renal tubules to reabsorb fine substances.
