How to treat cervical hypertrophy in women

Cervical hypertrophy is usually caused by chronic inflammation or repeated cervical infection, and treatment includes medication, physical therapy, and surgery. Cervical hypertrophy may not cause obvious symptoms, but in severe cases it may cause menstrual abnormalities or discomfort in sexual life.

1. Drug treatment: Drug treatment for cervical hypertrophy is mainly used to control inflammation and infection. Commonly used drugs include antibiotics such as azithromycin and clindamycin, and anti-inflammatory drugs such as ibuprofen. Topical antibacterial ointments or suppositories, such as nifuratel suppositories, can also help relieve symptoms and reduce the risk of infection.

2. Physical therapy: For mild to moderate cervical hypertrophy, physical therapy such as cryotherapy, electrocoagulation or laser therapy is an effective option. Cryotherapy causes necrosis and shedding of diseased tissue through low temperatures, while electrocoagulation and laser therapy destroy abnormal tissue through high temperatures. These methods are usually performed in outpatient clinics and have a short recovery period.

3. Surgery: When medication and physical therapy are ineffective or the condition is severe, surgery may be required. Common surgical procedures include cervical conization and trachelectomy. Cervical conization treats hypertrophy by removing part of the cervical tissue, while trachelectomy is suitable for more serious cases and removes the entire cervix. Regular follow-up after surgery is required to ensure good recovery.

The key to preventing cervical hypertrophy is to maintain good personal hygiene habits, avoid unclean sex, and have regular gynecological examinations. Early detection and treatment can effectively control the development of cervical hypertrophy. If abnormal symptoms occur, such as increased vaginal discharge or odor, you should seek medical attention in time.
