Princess Kate's postpartum anorexia nutritionist: Too thin is dangerous

According to media reports, Britain's Princess Kate gave birth to Princess Charlotte just six months ago. When she attended a movie premiere with Prince William at the end of October, everyone noticed that she had lost a lot of weight. Her cheeks were obviously sunken, and her slender waist was estimated to be only about 18 inches. She is 178 cm tall and now weighs only 44 kg. Kate is suspected to have suffered from anorexia and become too thin because she was too exhausted from taking care of her two children and tried hard to lose weight to regain her pre-pregnancy figure.

Nutritionists say that mothers can lose weight naturally within six months by breastfeeding, increasing the amount of vegetables, and exercising moderately. Don't put too much pressure on yourself. If you develop anorexia, it can cause organ failure or even death in severe cases.

Kate Middleton may suffer from anorexia after taking care of children and losing too much weight

When Princess Kate attended the premiere, she was wearing a gray-blue chiffon dress. Although the dress was loose and could slightly conceal her figure, it was still obvious that Kate had lost a lot of weight. Based on Kate's height and current weight, her body mass index (BMI) is only 13.8, which is obviously too thin!

According to media reports, Kate spared no effort in taking care of her two children, but she was also actively trying to lose weight. Perhaps she had too high standards for herself and was under too much pressure, so her weight plummeted. The British royal family was worried that she really had anorexia and had asked a medical team to help Kate recover her health.

Don’t lose weight too fast! Lose weight slowly half a year after giving birth

If anorexia is severe, it can cause malnutrition and electrolyte imbalance, resulting in decreased immunity, and may lead to organ failure and death. Therefore, mothers should not lose weight too much after giving birth, otherwise the gains will outweigh the losses. In fact, many mothers in China are like Kate. They are busy taking care of their babies and trying to lose weight. What can they do to avoid losing too much weight?

Hou Wenyi, director of the Nutrition Department of St. Martin's Hospital, said that women usually do not gain much weight in the first three months of pregnancy, and usually start to gain weight in the last six months of pregnancy. Therefore, it takes about half a year to slowly lose weight after delivery, and mothers do not need to put too much pressure on themselves.

Breastfeeding consumes body fat and eating more vegetables increases satiety

During pregnancy, the body will automatically store some fat in preparation for postpartum breastfeeding; therefore, mothers who breastfeed can consume body fat just by breastfeeding. As long as breastfeeding continues, weight will usually decrease naturally within six months. Mothers who are not breastfeeding do not need to worry. Director Hou Wenyi said that as long as they follow the daily dietary guidelines of the Ministry of Health and Service and consume the maximum 5 servings of vegetables to increase satiety, they can help lose weight.

Carefully control the amount of fat and exercise moderately to stay slim

In terms of fat, many mothers like to eat sesame oil chicken during the confinement period, which can easily lead to excessive intake of fat. It is recommended to control the amount of fat to less than 7 teaspoons to avoid taking in too many calories. Director Hou Wenyi reminds that in addition to regular meals, mothers should also eat less snacks and avoid drinking sugary drinks, which will help with weight loss. In addition, after the mother's delivery wound heals, it is recommended to combine it with moderate brisk walking, flywheel, yoga (under professional guidance) and other exercises to restore a slim figure faster.
