Traditional 100-sheet tofu is made by pressing bean curd sheets layer by layer, and is also known as "Thousand Sheets". However, due to the complicated production process, the protein currently available on the market is mainly made from artificially extracted soy protein isolate. Its texture is denser than that of ordinary tofu and it absorbs soup easily, so it has a unique flavor when used as an ingredient for hot pot or braised dishes.

Does 100-sheet tofu have the same number of calories as tofu? !

Traditional tofu and boxed tender tofu are low in calories and filling enough, making them a savior for people who are trying to lose weight. However, some tofu products on the market are high in oil and salt, which not only increase the calories but also easily exceed the sodium content. Among them, the 100-layer tofu that often appears in braised food stalls has the most hidden traps!

The salad oil, sugar and salt in 100 grams of 100-gram tofu make the calorie content soar to 215 calories, which is four times that of boxed soft tofu. After eating a bag of 500 grams of 100-gram tofu, the calorie content has exceeded 1,000 calories. It is recommended to eat as little as possible.

What additives are there in 100-sheet tofu?

The additives contained in 100-sheet tofu include sugar, salt, seasonings, thickeners, colorants, mixed spices, etc. Although the protein content is high, it is currently impossible to confirm whether other nutrients that soybeans themselves are rich in, such as soy isoflavones, lecithin or trace elements, exist after processing.

In addition, a lot of salad oil, sugar and salt are added to enhance the taste, which makes the oil content of tofu high, the protein content low, and the dietary fiber less. The calcium content is also reduced by using gluconolactone instead of calcium sulfate as a coagulant.

In short, although the tofu is delicious and people can't help but eat one piece after another, the salt, calories, nutrients, etc. hidden behind it are more worthy of our attention.
