Female stars are crazy about yoga, be careful of varicose veins

Many people know that practicing yoga can sculpt the body, especially the hot yoga that has become popular in recent years, which is claimed to be able to lose weight and is favored by celebrities! Hollywood actresses including Madonna and Gwyneth Paltrow are fans of hot yoga. However, foreign doctors have called for caution in doing hot yoga excessively, as it may lead to varicose veins.

"Hot yoga" is done in a room heated to 43 degrees Celsius. The main purpose is to make the body take action in a heated environment and disperse the heat to avoid overheating and maintain healthy body functions. The body uses this to improve circulation and achieve health.

Improper hot yoga may cause varicose veins

According to the British Daily Mail, Peter Finigan, medical director of Dr Newmans Clinic in the UK, said that the number of patients who developed varicose veins due to hot yoga has increased by 25% compared to the same period last year. "Hot yoga is definitely a factor in making varicose veins more visible on the surface of the skin," he said.

Hot yoga is a fashionable sport, but when people stay in a room heated to 43°C for a period of time, it may easily cause varicose veins. This temperature causes blood vessels to dilate, and it looks like blood is flowing near the surface of the skin, such as red dots and reticular venous plexus, and usually appears on the face, hands and shoulders.

Foreign doctors have called on people to be careful about improper hot yoga, as it may cause varicose veins.

Varicose vein formation is also related to rhinoplasty

Causes of varicose veins include: hot yoga, washing your face in extremely hot or cold water, or rhinoplasty, or hormonal changes caused by pregnancy or liver disease. When the body temperature rises, the blood vessels dilate and the blood in the veins flows closer to the surface of the skin, causing varicose veins. For example, when you have facial filler injections or rhinoplasty, varicose veins are often a side effect.

As we age, our skin and blood vessels become less elastic. Once the skin comes into contact with hot or ice water, small red or purple blood vessels will easily appear. Dr. Finnigan reminds that if you really need to take a hot or cold shower, it should not exceed 15 to 20 minutes.

Varicose veins treatment with thermal coagulation, laser

Dr. Finnigan pointed out that current treatments for reticular varicose veins include thermal coagulation, laser, or sclerotherapy. Thermal coagulation uses microwaves to heat fine blood vessels to eliminate thread veins. The laser or sclerosing methods use tiny needles to break the blood vessels inside the veins, causing them to shrink and die naturally within 8 weeks. These treatments do not leave scars.

【Hot Yoga Notes】:

When doing hot yoga, you should do it moderately depending on your physical condition. If you feel symptoms of overheating, remember to stop and cool down and replenish water. Whether in the classroom or at home, never force yourself to continue doing something.

1. Patients with high blood pressure, heart disease, and acute diseases should not practice hot yoga.

2. It is recommended to practice hot yoga 2 to 3 times a week, 70 to 90 minutes each time.

3. If you find it difficult to adapt to such a temperature, feel pressure on your heart and respiratory system, and feel dizzy, you should lie down and rest for a while.

4. Take vitamin B before practicing hot yoga to prevent dehydration, and take vitamin C and E for antioxidant effects after finishing.
