Yu Fang, who is 163 cm tall, gained weight to 78 kg when she was pregnant with her third child. Study: Breastfeeding helps with weight loss

According to a study published in the International Breastfeeding Journal, women who exclusively breastfeed after childbirth lose weight faster than mothers who mix breast milk and formula, even if they need normal nutritional and calorie supplements and exercise relatively less.

The researchers compared weight changes in mothers who exclusively breastfed and those who mixed breastfeeding within 12 weeks after delivery. Breastfeeding mothers who consumed 1980 calories per day lost an average of 4.41 kg in weight, while mixed milk mothers who only consumed about 1541 calories per day only lost an average of 2.79 kg in weight.

Chen Jinghui, chief physician of the Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology at Taipei Medical University Hospital, said that women who exclusively breastfeed can consume an additional 300 to 500 calories a day, of which about one-third come from stored body fat. But the most important thing is that breastfeeding still requires nutritional balance. Don't deliberately not eat just because you want to lose weight. It is recommended that daily calorie intake should not be less than 1,800 calories.

Dr. Chen Jinghui added that if women start breastfeeding as soon as possible after giving birth, it can promote the early secretion of breast milk, which is not only beneficial to the child, but the mother is also the beneficiary of breastfeeding.
