What is cervical inflammatory disease?

Cervical inflammatory disease is a common gynecological disease, mainly refers to inflammatory diseases occurring in the cervix. Cervicitis is divided into acute cervicitis and chronic cervicitis, of which chronic cervicitis is the most common.

The symptoms of acute cervicitis include increased vaginal discharge, which is purulent, accompanied by pain in the lower abdomen and lumbosacral region, or bladder irritation signs such as frequent urination, urgency, and pain when urinating. The symptoms of chronic cervicitis mainly include excessive vaginal discharge, which is milky white and mucous, or light yellow purulent; in severe cervical erosion or cervical polyps, there may be bloody vaginal discharge or bleeding after sexual intercourse. In mild cases, there may be no systemic symptoms. When the inflammation spreads along the uterosacral ligament to the pelvic cavity, there may be pain in the lumbosacral region, a feeling of heaviness in the lower abdomen, and dysmenorrhea, which worsens during bowel movements and sexual intercourse.

The main causes of cervicitis are:

1. Mechanical stimulation or injury: Cervicitis may be caused by injury during childbirth, miscarriage or surgery.

2. Pathogen infection: Certain sexually transmitted diseases lead to cervical infection and inflammation, such as Neisseria gonorrhoeae, Mycoplasma genitalium, Trichomonas, etc.

3. Unhealthy sexual life: Unhealthy sexual life, such as starting sexual life too early, promiscuous, lack of restraint, and not using condoms during sexual intercourse, greatly increase the incidence of cervicitis.

4. Personal lifestyle factors: Failure to pay attention to the cleanliness of private parts resulting in vaginal flora disorder, allergies to certain substances in the douching agent, and irritation or damage to the cervix caused by the intrauterine contraceptive device may all cause cervicitis.

Cervical inflammatory disease is a common gynecological disease, and comprehensive preventive measures are required, including paying attention to sexual hygiene, regular gynecological examinations, and avoiding damage to the cervix. At the same time, if symptoms of cervicitis occur, you should seek medical attention in a timely manner and cooperate with the doctor for treatment. During treatment, you should maintain good living habits and hygiene habits, and avoid too frequent sex or too many sexual partners.
